Fueling Vitality: The Role of GLP-1 in Enhancing Mitochondrial Health and Longevity — Clinical Insights into the Gut-Joint Connection

Longevity is no longer a passive pursuit—it’s an intentional strategy rooted in science, systems biology, and clinical innovation. As the modern healthcare paradigm shifts from disease treatment to health optimization, GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) has emerged as a pivotal hormone in metabolic regulation and the orchestration of cellular health and resilience.

This presentation delves into GLP-1’s expanding role beyond glycemic control, highlighting its impact on mitochondrial efficiency, cellular longevity, and systemic inflammation. Groundbreaking research reveals GLP-1’s ability to enhance mitochondrial biogenesis, fortify the gut barrier, and reduce pro-inflammatory cytokine activity—mechanisms that are highly relevant to joint integrity and chronic pain resolution.

Of particular interest to chiropractors is GLP-1’s influence on the gut-joint axis, a powerful yet underrecognized pathway linking microbiome health, immune activation, and musculoskeletal degeneration. These insights support the chiropractic philosophy of addressing the root cause through integrative, whole-body care.

Join Dr. Robert Silverman as he presents a forward-thinking, clinically applicable framework that integrates GLP-1 modulation with mitochondrial-targeted protocols. Attendees will gain actionable strategies to promote vitality, extend healthspan, and optimize patient outcomes through a new lens on aging—from the inside out.

Time to Set Your Office on Fire: Leveraging Knowledge, Research, and Evidence-Based Care to Demystify Stroke Issues and Guidelines

Hour 1 will take an otherwise boring topic and make it fun. We will reveal how to not just survive, but thrive in today’s healthcare, evidence-based world. This lecture will bridge the gap between the evidence-based and philosophy camps and explain how to remain true to your beliefs while minimizing the perceived challenges of third-party pay. We will explain the difference between guidelines and typical frequency and duration parameters and care driven by response to care and patient outcomes. We will remove the mystery and angst related to clinical guidelines and third party pay and provide suggestions on patient care and education. Monday morning will be different once you attend this lecture.

Hour 2 will delve into clinical risk management and taking the mystery out of the CVA issue.  We have all heard it! “It’s OK to visit a chiropractor, but don’t let them touch your neck!” Fear mongering is real and pervasive in the medical world. Dr. Farabaugh will review the issues related to stroke and discuss what DCs can do to combat the massive misinformation. At the same time, he will discuss the clinical implementation of strategies to identify patients who are elevated risk, in order to lessen the chances of an event occurring related to your care. Attendees will participate in clinical vignettes and discuss how to respond to real-life situations. The lecture will include specific action steps for the DC to implement Monday morning.

The Chiropractic Solution to Bulletproofing High-Performance Shoulders

Chiropractors who can effectively treat shoulders will be famous in their community. Many people are struggling with shoulder injuries, yet many medical providers do not take a systematic approach to fixing the underlying issue, and instead address just the symptoms. Chiropractors have a unique skill set and a unique opportunity to be heroes in this situation by addressing the symptoms along with underlying pathology.

Since many chiropractic practices are also involved in high-performance treatment and rehab for athletes, a skilled chiropractic team can play an outstanding role in assessing and treating the most common shoulder conditions. In fact, no other profession has the knowledge, assessment and treatment skills, and immediate intervention abilities that modern chiropractors possess to address these issues.

This course will lead to a deeper understanding of the structures of the shoulder, how to measure and assess them, and how to judge their function and patency as the first step in becoming the leader in your community for painful shoulder conditions. Dr. Satterlee will also delve into tactical skills for the fastest and most efficient treatment and rehab strategies.

Improving Exam Performance

When a new patient enters a chiropractic office, their expectations can vary widely — and in many cases, they may not know what to expect at all. This uncertainty can create a fear of the unknown, serving as a barrier to seeking care. While orthopedic and neurological testing procedures are standardized across many healthcare disciplines, chiropractic offices often lack uniformity in how new patient examinations are conducted and presented.

Dr. McKinley will address a critical, yet overlooked, aspect of chiropractic care: the need for consistency and clarity in the new patient evaluation process. By focusing on the elements chiropractic physicians share — including orthopedic and neurological exams and x-ray evaluations — and considering information from laser, 3D foot scans, this course aims to develop a unified, repeatable approach to the new patient experience.

Participants will explore how to organize and present evaluations in a way that fosters patient confidence and professional cohesion. With a consistent system in place, patients are more likely to feel at ease, understand what to expect, and follow through with care.

You will leave this course with:

  • A streamlined, effective evaluation system for new patients.
  • Strategies to build trust and confidence in your practice.
  • Tools to promote greater consistency among chiropractic providers.
  • Insights into reducing barriers that prevent patients from beginning care.

By establishing a shared standard of care, we can help create a more welcoming and predictable environment for patients — and a more confident, unified front among chiropractic professionals.
